Install/Upgrade/Uninstall the CLI

Install the KumoScale CLI

Complete the following steps for your Operating System.

CentOS 7.9 or 8.3 running Python

Complete the steps below to install the CLI on CentOS 7.9 or 8.3 running Python.

  1. Run:
yum -y install epel-release

yum -y install python36
2.  Download the KumoScale CLI RPM package ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64.rpm to your local directory and run the following command to install it:
rpm -ivh ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64.rpm

Ubuntu 20.04.3 running Python 3.8

Complete the steps below to install the CLI on Ubuntu 20.04.3 running Python.

  1. Download the KumoScale CLI DEB package ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64.deb to your local directory.
  2. Run:
sudo dpkg -i ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64.deb

Using the KumoScale CLI

Run the following command to enter the KumoScale CLI:

ks_cli

You may also specify the REST API port:

ks_cli -p <port_number>

To get help on the CLI without entering the CLI:

ks_cli --help

A list of available commands with a brief description will be returned:

KumoScale CLI started

add-ssd-to-group          Add SSD to existing group

add-syslog                add new Syslog configuration

add-telemetry             Add configuration and connection to TSDB

change-user-password      Change password of the existing RBAC user

clear-alerts              Clear existing alerts from log.

...

help                      Summary of the CLI commands.

exit                      Exit the CLI and close the session.

Type <command name> -h | --help for further details on a specific command and its parameters.

Upgrading the KumoScale CLI

Complete the relevant steps to uninstall the CLI

CentOS

Download the KumoScale CLI rpm package ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64.rpm to your local directory and run the following command to upgrade it:

rpm ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64.rpm

Ubuntu

Download the KumoScale CLI deb package ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64.deb to your local directory and run the below command to Install it

sudo dpkg -i ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64.deb

Uninstalling the KumoScale CLI

Run the appropriate command to uninstall the CLI. We recommend rebooting once components have been uninstalled.

CentOS

rpm -e ks-managed-cli-<version>.x86_64

Ubuntu

sudo apt-get remove ks-managed-cli
